I am a communication studies major with an area in health at Rollins College. I am currently interning at a local marketing and advertising agency called SIX the Agency, as a public relations intern. I plan to finish my degree the end of 2017 and pursue a full-time career in public relations. Working as a PR intern, I’ve had a lot of experience creating extensive media lists for client pitching purposes. I have made pitching calls to new and traditional media outlets (both local and international), as well as assisted on putting together PR plans, summaries, and call sheets. I have also gained experience crafting blog posts for different clients, as well as posting, updating, and managing social media accounts.
Sofia Acosta moved to Winter Park, Florida from Tegucigalpa, Honduras in 2014. She is currently studying Communication Studies with a focus in Public Relations and Organizational communication at Rollins College. She has interned at television broadcasting companies and has been employed by magazine publishing companies. Passionate about writing, Sofia was a natural fit for these businesses. With reassurance from her family and friends, she started a catering company with her mother Patricia in 2012, a job that demanded inexhaustible creative skills. In her free time, Sofia spends time with her friends and enjoys meeting new people, as she believes connecting with others increases her knowledge of other cultures. Knowledge is power.
A Florida-native, I was born and raised in The City Beautiful. I have an affinity for all things Orlando, and am confident in the redeeming power of faith, trust, and pixie dust. I am a kind-hearted creative who has never met a word with purpose she didn’t love. I write, I design, I lead, I serve. I believe that the story is life’s greatest tool. Through communication and understanding, I know that a perfect solution to any problem is always within reach. I am currently pursuing my Bachelor of Arts in Communications at Rollins College. My concentration is in Public Relations, with a minor in Anthropology. I plan to graduate in 2019. With perseverance, positivity, and a little bit of caffeine, anything is possible!
