About ThirdSight

ThirdSight provides students engaged in historical inquiry using visual elements an environment to display their endeavors. Traditionally, photo essays are defined by original photography exploring place and making connections while incorporating a short critical writing component.

ThirdSight offers a variation of this method called a Spatial Photo Essay (SPE). The SPE requires students to incorporate archival photographs, mapping, and captured images to explore the interplay between history and contemporary circumstances. The visual chronicles presented here are historical narratives based on primary and secondary source research with an emphasis on spatial and temporal understanding. This project bolsters student skill in perception, analysis, and synthesis while linking local subjects to regional, national, and global events.
