“Don’t Shoot” – Music’s Call to Attention of Police Brutality

Created as a response to the shooting of Mike Brown, “Don’t Shoot” was a song created by many rap artists in order to raise proceeds for Mike Brown’s family.  In the song, they talk about the many struggles that African Americans have when it comes to dealing with police brutality.   The song encourages taking a stand for the protection of black rights.  Released in 2014, the song features well known artists such as 2 Chainz, DJ Khaled, and Rick Ross.  Through things such as music, more attention is able to be drawn to the problem of police brutality.
