Kaltura My Media Student Guide

  • Kaltura is our all-in-one video tool that allows you to upload, store, create, share, and trim videos.
  • Once you upload videos to Kaltura, you can add faculty, staff, and students as collaborators to co-edit and/or co-publish videos.
    • As of 10/06/18, users may receive an API 500 error when uploading media to Kaltura, resulting in an incomplete upload. There is nothing specific that causes this and it can usually be resolved by trying to upload again.
  • Within Kaltura is a tool called CaptureSpace Lite that allows you to create a screen recording, webcam recording, voice only recording, or a combination of these. This tool is helpful in recording narrated PowerPoints and embedding them in a Blackboard course.
    • When downloading CaptureSpace recordings from the Kaltura video editor, the video will save as a .noex file. The current workaround is to simply rename the file to .mp4 file and it will save and work as an mp4 video. The issue arises because of Kaltura and it will be resolved in future releases of CaptureSpace.
  • Kaltura My Media is the space where you can upload and store videos for use in any course through the Mashup tool in Blackboard.
