ARH 236 – Art and Archaeology of the Greek World

This course is a basic introduction to the archaeology of the ancient cultures of the Greek-speaking Mediterranean from ca. 3000 – 30 BC.  Traditionally, the Classical Greek world has served as the basis for Western society, but in an increasingly globalized world it is necessary to explore the culture of ancient Greece in an effort to familiarize ourselves with the cultural, social, and even artistic baggage that this tradition still attaches to modern life.
