THE CHASE-MOORE LIBRARY MEETING – AUGUST 29, 1891
August 29, 1891
THE CHASE-MOORE LIBRARY MEETING
The literary club, recently organized among the Hannibal Square people, was again in session last Monday night and the meeting was quite an interesting one. A good crowd was out to witness the meeting and, seemingly, they all were highly pleased with it.
The name adopted is the Chase and Moore—a very acceptable one to the members of the club. Of course there were anxieties to adopt the name of “Chase & Hutchins”, “Chase & Lawrence” or “Chase & Peckman,” but the members finally accepted that of Chase & Moore.
Ex Presiding Elder Brown was also present and gave the club an encouraging speech. Subjects for debate were given out for the next Thursday nights meeting. A host of business was transacted.
